Of all the players shipped out on loan, I do think that Hoedt could have improved our side if Ralph Hasenhuttl had given him a chance, however from the Austrian's arrival at the club he had decided that the Dutch defenders face didn't fit and he did not play a game under Hasenhuttl.
Good luck to all three of them who have gone today. A CB that was afraid to head had potentially the greatest contribution to make in a side that supposedly needs a rock solid leader.
I'm hoping that the apparent option to buy is sufficiently low to tempt Lazio into a deal as soon as possible. If his football brain had equalled his ego and arrogance he could have been quite a decent player. Theo Walcott! Arry's Part In His Success.
Guido Carrillo Departs. Now there are many out there in the social media world who consider this somewhat poetic irony, given his mixed messaging on the subject since the crisis began, and there are more than a few wishing that it ends very badly for Trump.

SaintNick added - Oct 5 Im not loyal to Hoedt, of all the three that have left today I think he made the biggest contribution, I stick with Ralph's view too, but it might have been different, Hoedt was frozen out without playing a game for Ralph, unlike Boufal who had plenty of chances here. Saints vice-chairman Les Reed said Hoedt is "one of the most promising young defenders in Europe". His Dutch team-mate and Saints captain Virgil van Dijk recently handed in a transfer request, but the club say he is not for sale. Reed added: "Wesley has proven his talent through his performances for Lazio, as well as the Netherlands, and we believe he can develop even further here at Southampton, alongside his international team-mate Van Dijk, as well as the likes of Jack Stephens, Maya Yoshida, Jan Bednarek and Florin Gardos.
Hoedt said: "I'm really happy to be here. I think Southampton is a really big club, so it's a good next step for me to come here and to play in the Premier League and try to help the best I can.

Joe 22 Aug I'm a Southampton fan, and read this. Then slapped myself as I have begun to lose all sense of reality. I'm sure that there are many of us who admire Southampton FC, they sell all their best players yet always come up trumps with new home bred players and signings that turn out to be a steal.
All very well run clubs and this is a very good signing for Southampton. Very shrewd club the Saints and good luck to them. We aspire to be established. StaffsSaint 22 Aug What are you talking about????

Saturday 17 October. Man City. Man Utd. Sheff Utd. Crystal Palace. West Ham. Aston Villa. West Bromwich. To drown out the players!Interest is growing around the future of the Southampton defender, who looks set to depart St Mary's again this summer with several clubs in Europe reported to be keen.
Hoedt has spent time on loan at Celta Vigo and Royal Antwerp in recent seasons, after falling out of favour at Southampton, with his last appearance in a competitive fixture for Saints coming back in November during Mark Hughes' time in charge. And now it has been claimed that there are offers on the table for Hoedt, with another loan spell looking likely.Wesley Hoedt - Welcome Back To Lazio -LVDL-
But what is the latest on his future? What do the club want to happen and who is keen on landing his services? The Dutch international has been strongly linked with a return to Belgium, after his spell in the Jupiler Pro League last season. He made 21 appearances during his loan spell with Royal Antwerp, and has been linked with a return to the country's top flight, with Belgian publication HLN reporting that Club Brugge are the latest club to be monitoring his situation.
It is understood that Anderlecht, AA Gent and Antwerp are also interested, but that none of those clubs will be likely to afford a permanent move for the defender. However, loan offers are understood to be on the table for Hoedt, with The Athletic reporting that there is also interest from Italy. Earlier this week, it was reported by Sky Sports that Anderlecht had opened negotiations with Saints over a potential loan deal for Hoedt.
Ralph Hasenhuttl's side are said to be keen to see the defender depart on a permanent move this summer but have only received loan interest for his services. Sky Sports claim that Anderlecht are looking for a central defender this summer and that any loan deal for him to join Vincent Kompany's ranks will NOT come with an option or obligation to buy. Hoedt's current deal at St. Mary's is not set to expire until with next summer posing the final realistic opportunity for Saints to cash in on the defender's departure.
The intention is that this time I leave permanently. The defender began his career at AZ and was born in Alkmaar, and Voetbal International claimed that the Saints man was being eyed up by the Eredivisie outfit. However, it is understood that a return to AZ is not a viable option at the moment, and a move to Belgium or to Italy is more likely.
Southampton would favour a permanent move for Hoedt this summer after his two back-to-back loan spells with Celta Vigo and Royal Antwerp. Hoedt has not been assigned a squad number and has not featured for Saints in pre-season and a move looks to be on the cards sooner rather than later, with Southampton working to find a solution for the defender ahead of the transfer deadline.
